Got a nice rejection on a requested partial of ASHES today. The agent thought it was a great concept but didn't 'love it' enough to take it on (is it just me or do they all use that same line?). Decent response as rejections go but not what I needed on my birthday of all days.

OK, so I decided it was time to be more professional. Yes, I've had a website for over a month but now I have a domain name to go with it. It's official . . . www.lori-dillon.com is now mine, all mine!

Got a very nice rejection on a full of ASHES today from an agent. She had a lot of good things to say about it but *big sigh* didn't love it enough to take it on. She did say she really liked my voice and wanted to see anything else I have. I think I'll send her DRAGON when it's finished, if I don't have another agent by then. I have two requested fulls out there (one with an editor & one with an agent) so I've still got my fingers crossed on them.

Agatha award winning author Rosemary Stevens just gave me my first quote for ASHES. I'm so honored! Heck, I was just tickled that she offered to read it in the first place.

Mailed in ASHES to the Golden Heart contest today. I honestly can't say how it's going to do. I've been told I have a strong voice and contest judges either love it or hate it. Here's hoping the luck of the draw is with me and I get 6 judges who love me!

I just got another request from an agent for the full of ASHES! Woo hoo! I also just realized that she sent the email on a Sunday, which either means a) she's a workaholic and has a submission pile a mile high or b) she took my partial home over the weekend and loved it so much she can't wait to read the rest. My wishful thinking chooses option 'B'.

Well, I finally have my own website up. Guess it's about time since I do them for others. (Yes, in addition to writing and raising two children--which is a real job, thank you very much--I also do portraits and website design.) Please bare with me. I couldn't keep up with a diary as a child to save my life so we'll see how I do now as an adult. All I can say is I'm gonna try.

Let's see, I guess I should catch you up on where I am right now in my writing. I have two finished manuscripts, one of which is tucked away in a drawer until I get the courage to do the major revisions it desperately needs. Since it's the first book in a planned 3 book series, I guess I'm going to have to do it sometime. *sigh* I also have 7 other novels started and in various stages of completion which I'll get to someday. The second finished MS is ASHES and I'm currently submitting it to agents. Right now I have 1 requested full, 3 requested partials and 10 outstanding queries with agents. I also have a requested full with an editor at Kensington. Not bad, if I do say so myself. I'll keep you updated on how it's going. Meanwhile, I've just gotten started on MS #3, HEART OF THE DRAGON. It's a medieval time-travel and turning out to be a lot of fun.
